Some wearables estimate arterial blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) using pulse oximetry. It is a measure of the available oxygen supply in your blood. The SpO2 value reported by wearables is an estimate, not very accurate.By contrast, Venoxia™ uses a venous blood gas analyzer to measure oxygen extraction - how much oxygen is being removed from the blood by your muscles and other tissues. Venoxia yields 20+ measures of oxygen delivery and extraction that cannot be obtained by wearable devices.In addition, Venoxia™ uses a medical-grade pulse CO-oximeter, which yields an accurate measure of SpO2 along with other key measures not detected by conventional pulse oximetry.
VO2max is the maximum rate of whole-body oxygen consumption during intense exercise. It is an important measure of fitness. A true VO2max is measured in a lab using a graded exercise test with a metabolic mask and bike (or treadmill) until exhaustion. Some wearables provide an estimated VO2max, which is not very accurate.By contrast, Venoxia measures tissue oxygen extraction at rest. If your tissue extraction at rest points to sub-optimal oxygen delivery, then your training and performance will be sub-optimal. Venoxia helps you detect and address the hidden factors that may be limiting your performance. If your Venoxia test reveals optimal oxygen extraction at rest, then you have a better chance to reach your peak performance. In this scenario, your VO2 max will reflect the impact of your training—uncomplicated by sub-optimal baseline health status.
